Mission Statement
The mission of the Scholarship Committee is to support, promote and encourage the educational pursuits and goals of individuals and families at Second Baptist Church.
Objectives:
Encourage and help youth prepare for college with Scholarship processes for college based on prior experience.
Financial assistance or relief to individual and family with continuation of college education.
Monitor educational progress.
Continued communication with the youth to stress and encourage maximum academic abilities.
The Second Baptist Church (SBC) Scholarship Fund exists to financially assist those qualified individuals seeking to attend an institution of higher learning and individuals currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning. Awards are based on academic achievement, church and school involvement, completed application and interview process. The Scholarship Committee continues to improve and develop the SBC Scholarship Fund. Please join us as your involvement in any form is welcomed! The Second Baptist Church will be awarding scholarships to 2025 high school graduates who will be continuing their education.
ELIGIBILTIY CRITERIA:
• Current Member of Second Baptist Church or Parents/Guardian/Grandparents current member
• Current Enrollment in an institution of higher learning (four-year college/university, community college, business school or other career preparatory entity)
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
SUBMISSION PROCESS:
• Complete this Form in its entirety (including all attachments)
• Attach a copy of your Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 transcripts. Transcripts need not be official but MUST be authentic (having some identifier that shows it came from your school and bearing your name).
• Attach a copy of your course schedule for Fall 2025.
• Completed applications along with the required documents MUST be received by Friday, August 8, 2025. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Please Note: Committee members will not contact you for additional information, so please make sure your application is completed in full. Church membership and graduation will be validated.

(Note: Eligible students must be a past graduate of a high school in the Tri-City Area if they are not a current member)
• Current Enrollment in an institution of higher learning (four-year college/university, community college, business school or other career preparatory entity)
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Application Requirements-Submit the following:
• Fully completed SBC Scholarship Application.
• One Copy of a letter of reference that was submitted with your college application package.
• Letter(s) of acceptance to the institution you will attend. If letters have not been received by the deadline for submitting this application, this should be stated and submitted as soon as the letter(s) is received
• A copy of an essay prepared for and submitted with your college application
Submission Procedures
• Complete this Form in its entirety (including all attachments)
