SBC-C COVID-19 GUIDELINES

Purpose:

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to the members and guests of Second Baptist Church-Chester in Chester, VA, on the utilization of the buildings and resources during the Commonwealth of Virginia’s COVID-19 Road to Recovery. This document is modified to provide maximum safety, security, and spiritual comfort for our congregation. This document is grounded in the recommendations and regulations
of the Phase 1-5 recovery process set forth by the Commonwealth of VA and the Federal Center for Disease Control effective April 3, 2022.

The following safety precautions shall be followed:

1. Wearing face masks.
2. Regular use of hand sanitizer/hand washing.
3. Avoid touching, hugging, and handshakes.
4. Contact tracing upon entering.
5. Touch less thermometer checks.

  • Obtain temperatures upon entering the sanctuary.
  • Church attendance shall be capped. High-risk members and guest are encouraged to remain at home; and continue virtual/teleconference services.
  • Virtual/teleconference worship services will be available as well as in-person worship services with all persons attending adhering to recommended safety guidelines outlined in this document.
  • We will continue with outdoor gatherings.
  • Removal of hymnals, fans, bibles, and envelopes from all pews and no paper bulletins will be distributed.
  • Microphones cannot be shared, and all choir members must maintain 6ft. distance apart. Facial masks are mandatory when not singing. The church’s Minister of Music or his/her designee shall be responsible for oversight of these guidelines.
  • Inside doors will remain open until service starts.
  • Adjusted offering collection and Communion for sanitation.

All Guidelines shall be determined by the Trustee Ministry, Senior Pastor, and members of the Return to Church Committee. This is because it is difficult to predict what the new normal may include.

We are happy to inform you that effective immediately the requirements for entering the church and attending in-person services are:

1. No temperature checks.

2. No contact tracing.

3. Masks are optional.

We will resume our in-person Sunday School this Sunday, January 1 at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary.

All Guidelines shall be determined by the Trustee Ministry, Senior Pastor, and members of the Return to Church Committee. This is because it is difficult to predict what the new normal may include.
