Christian Education - Our mission is to “Utilize every event as an opportunity to teach; Glorifying the Father while Edifying the Son. Supplement the preaching of God’s word with teaching God’s word by Christian Men and Women committed to bring honor to Christ”. Nehemiah 8:8 says that “They read from the book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving meaning so that the people could understand what was read. And the people listen attentively to Ezra reading God’s words and their lives were changed”.

Fitness - The Second Baptist Church Fitness Ministry was indoctrinated in October 2006. Its charter is to “Unlock the Wisdom, Ultimate Happiness, Power, Ambition and Wellness Within each soul….in other words, Mind, Body and Holy Spirit.” The goals and objectives of the SBC Fitness Ministry are to promote healthy minds, bodies and souls through the collective energies, information sharing, a support system, and a holy ministry.

Greeters - The Greeters have the awesome responsibility of making those who come through the doors of the church feel love, important, peace, comforted and most of all welcome. I Corinthian 12:28 calls it the ministry of help. We help the pastor fulfill the vision God has given him by making our members and visitors feel at home. First impressions are very important and the sincerity that is shown as we greet members and visitors speaks volumes when we say, “We Are a Loving Church by the Side of the Road.”

Hospitality - Servants of God willing to do a service for God are our desire. This ministry strives to make members and visitors feel welcome and comfortable. We upkeep the kitchen, order supplies, etc. We prepare and serve repast at church sponsored engagements.

Marquee - With our beautiful well-lit board, inspirational messages are intended to prick your heart. All events dates and times are posted to keep the community and members informed

Media - The Mission of the Media Ministry is to effectively utilize the sound equipment to support and enhance the worship services. In addition, the Ministry provides Media resources for Ministries with the Church to enrich your spiritual needs. This committee shall have responsibility for use, maintenance and purchase of audio and recording equipment. Recording of church services shall be provided to members and others for a nominal fee.

Music - The incomparable Music Ministry of Second Baptist Church continues to be a viable and spiritual component in the vision, ministry, and nucleus of this branch of Zion. Each Sunday they offer a diverse ministry of talented directors, musicians, and vocalists in the mediums of The Jewels & Ensemble, The Inspirational Choir, The Male Chorus, The William E. Powell Singers, and The Young Adult Choir. They travel extensively throughout the tri-cities area spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through the prophetic gift of song and the blessed gift of music.

Health and Wellness - The Health and Wellness Ministry is looking forward to a blessed year of service, education, growth and support to the pastor, auxiliary ministries and members of Second Baptist Church. We wear name tags to identify the nurse in attendance at the services in the event a need arises. We also provide the church with health information.

Pastor's Aid - On behalf of the Church, we show love and support to our Pastor and First Lady on different occasions such as: Church anniversary, birthdays, wedding anniversary, and other occasions that Pastors are traditionally remembered. We encourage the growth and development of our Pastor and support all programs pertaining to the aid of our Pastor.

Scholarship - The Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to our students in their pursuit of a degree from a two (2) year or a four (4) year college or university; a community college, a vocational school; or a trade school. Awards are based on academic achievement, church, school, and community
involvement. Join us and consider getting involved as we develop programs to serve our students.

Seniors - A ministry of individuals 55 and above established to provide opportunities for regular Christian fellowship. We, also, provide an avenue for creative activities and informational discussions relevant of Senior’s needs.

The Teresa Ann Brown Ministries - The Missionary Ministry primary task is missions. We reach out at home, abroad, and collaborate with the church’s outreach effort. We make donations to the less fortunate, hospitalized, and bereaved families. We ensure that the church has funds to support missionary activities. We are also faithful supporters and members of the General Baptist State Convention. Jesus is the greatest missionary there is and we strive to follow His example

Ushers - Second Baptist Combined Ushers Ministry is a combination of youths and adults, who are God fearing Christians and have dedicated their Heart, Soul and Time to doing our Father’s work, as doorkeepers in decency and order

Young Adult - Young Adults at Second Baptist are characterized as those individuals between the ages of 19 and 35 with a desire to glorify God in every aspect of their lives. Our thematic scripture is John 9:4 which states, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” In other words, while we’re still young, vibrant, bursting with fresh and innovative ideas, while we have the opportunity, WE MUST WORK! And so, this ministry is purposed to nurture the spiritual growth and development of the Young Adults of the Second Baptist Church, Chester through a variety of ministry outlets so that they fully equipped and able to fulfill their purpose in the Kingdom.

Youth Ministry - The heart of Youth Ministry (ages 12-17 or grades 7th – 12th) at Second Baptist is creating a permanent passion for Christ in our youth. We do this by: Explaining scriptures with passion and simplicity, evangelizing the unsaved with compassion and equipping youth for maturing in Christ. Youth bible study is each Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M. and youth services are each first Sunday at 10:30 A.M.

Children's Church - This Ministry was created for children between the ages 6 through 11. Its purpose is to share the word of God with a curriculum that is specifically designed for this age group. We incorporate biblical games, music and activities to enhance their spiritual knowledge. The sessions are held during the 10:30 a.m. service each Sunday except for first Sundays.
